"Bifurcating Rome"

Acrylic on Canvas, 28" x 28"
"Bifurcation" is a mathematical term for splitting, used in fractals.
In painting these little splittings, I often would focus only on a small part of the canvas, ignoring the whole. So different parts of the canvas had their own identity, just as the principalities of ancient Rome retained their own cultures.
